Zamami Island Adventures! Last weekend we got to go adventuring on Zamami Island! It’s part of the Kerama Islands chain located just to the West of Okinawa. We opted for the quick ferry ride on the Queen Zamami III. It got us there in 50 minutes and I barely even got seasick. 🙂 We rented some bikes and spent the day adventuring around the island. There was an observation point close to our campsite and the view was spectacular. We even found some goats while we were there! We did a little snorkeling at Ama Beach where we found some sea turtles just chilling. I LOVE sea turtles!!! That was… Keep Reading
Exploring around Okinawa is one of my favorite ways to pass the time. A fellow photographer told me about this location and I knew that I had to see it for myself! The Happy Buddha statue. The directions on Map it! Okinawa were fairly easy to follow. The only part where we had issues was finding the donation can. It is NOT in the parking lot. You must first go past the Buddha and up the hill. There is a second house at the top and that is where you will find the blue donation box shown in the link above. The grounds are privately owned by an elderly Japanese… Keep Reading
I decided to change things up a little for this post! I had to take a break from editing images from my latest and very fantastic senior. So a bike ride to Baba Park it was. I was hoping for a terrific and gorgeous sunset. Unfortunately, there was solid cloud cover at the horizon. Not your typical sunset. But there were some beautiful clouds! It was great to get out and try something new. Helps me to broaden my abilities and learn new skills. What do you guys think? If you like these images, why not leave me some love at the bottom of the page. Back to editing images… Keep Reading
The Azalea flowers were in full bloom this March! Every year there is an Azalea Festival in Higashi Village, Nago. I missed the actual festival this year, but managed to make it for the flower viewing. The gardens are open until the end of March. It was absolutely gorgeous. Flowers were everywhere! There were a maze of paths to follow. Lots of little places to see. And everywhere you looked were flowers. It was beautiful. I would suggest bug spray. Some of the paths lead to wooded areas. Mosquitos sure do love those places. There was a decent amount of walking involved. Several large hills and some steep steps. I… Keep Reading
Yara Castle Ruins – Okinawa Japan A few weeks back, I was really itching to get out of the house. It had been a little while since my last adventure and I needed to get out and go do something/go somewhere!! Basically, I was going stir-crazy. I have a lists of spots on island that I either 1. just want to go see because they look so darn cool!! (there’s a dinosaur slide on there) or 2. places that I think would make a fun photoshoot location. The following happens to be the latter. So off I went to the Yara Castle Ruins.
